Ginger & Spike Publications came into being in 1995 when Ms. Whitaker got tired of re-inventing the wheel every time she wanted to take her dog Ginger along on a weekend to the coast or the mountains. “I was always on the phone, looking for a dog-friendly place to stay in whatever area we wanted to visit. Finally it dawned on me that if I needed this information, probably a lot of other people with pets did too! So I decided to gather it all together into a book that other dog owners could use to make traveling with their pets easier and more fun.” |

In her Have Dog Will Travel series, Ms. Whitaker shares the information she has collected during 20 years of traveling with her dogs, as well as her extensive research into the works of prominent dog trainers, veterinarians and other experts on dog behavior and care. Before launching the Have Dog Will Travel series, Ms. Whitaker specialized in technical support for computer users and the writing of software user guides—and she says, “Writing about traveling with my dog is WAY more fun!” |
